Annual Prize Day at SJC

Description: "A Dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its Achievement" SJC felicitates the students for excelling in academics on 23rd of September 2017, a special day for the students who were eagerly waiting to receive their awards. The chief guest of the day was Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis Xavier, Parish Priest of St. Joseph's Cathedral, Allahabad. He was welcomed by the College band accompanied by the Principal Rev. Fr. Rolfie D'Souza, the Vice Principal Rev. Fr. Joseph Sagayanathan, the Headmaster Rev. Fr. Titus Lobo, the Administrator Mr. A. McGowan and LKG Coordinator Sr. Jyotika. A bouquet was presented to the chief guest by Mrs. S. McGowan, to the Principal by Mrs. S. Sebastian, to Sr. Jyotika by Mr. Rakesh Sharma and to the Administrator by Dr. (Mrs.) Poonam D'Souza. The Mistress of ceremonies was Ms. Judy D'cruz and Ms. Bless Raphael. A prayer from the Holy Bible was presented by Mrs. Lim Terry, followed by a prayer song sung by Jr. school choir under the guidance of Mr. Shaiju Daniel and Ms. Sneha Jagan. Yashasvi Raj the College Captain led the march past of the merit holders with the College band, then the college anthem was played with a true spirit. Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, lecturer of the College presented an award in Memory of his Late Son Master Manas Singh who was a meritorious student but left for the heavenly abode at a tender age to Mubashir Qamar who topped in all the sections of Class V. This special prize has a citation, a memento and a fixed deposit of Rs. 10000/- in the name of the Child. Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh with his wife Mrs. S. Singh was filled with emotion giving this award to the winner as they see their own son in the child receiving the award. Prizes to children from classes LKG to class XII position holders were given by the chief guest Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis Xavier and the college administrator Mr. A. McGowan. Prizes were also given to students for coming every day to the school for securing 100% attendance. The prize for bagging the 1st position in ICSE 2017 went to Harsh Mahajan. The 2nd position went to Kanha Mishra and the 3rd position was shared by Chayan Sharma and Anurag Srivastava. The prize for securing the 1st position in ISC 2017 Science Stream went to Samyak Srivastava. The 2nd position went to Udit Singh Chauhan and the 3rd position was shared by three students namely Ajesh Vincent, Mohd. Danish and Yash Goenka. The 1st position for ISC 2017 commerce stream went to Yash Saxena. 2nd position was bagged by Pranav Tiwari who also scored 98% marks in economics. The 3rd position went to Parth Bhatt. Special awards were given by Jhaboo Khanna of Khanna Bhandar, chawk, Allahbad for highest marks in maths ICSE 2017 to Mohit Akhouri and Himashu for scoring 100% marks. J. M. Pant memorial merit award (Ex. Administrative General) Allahabad High Court for ICSE 2017 toppers (Best five subjects) went to Kanha Mishra with 96.4%. Ms. Emerine Shanti Singh Memorial Award for Highest marks in English in std. 5 for the year 2016-2017 went to Uddyan Chatterjee. Special awards were given to teachers of the college for their tireless dedication and devotion towards their profession by attending each working day of the school. The names of the teacher's who were awarded for their contribution were Mrs. Deepti Mishra, Mr. N. B. Lawrence, Mr. N. Gune, Mr. Prateek Hemrajani, Ms. Agnes Collis, Ms. Alvarage Jerai, Ms. Asha Isaac, Ms. Bless Raphael, Ms. Gloria Clare French, Ms. Joana Chandra Robinson, Ms. Lynette Marina Moore, Ms. Preeti Kushwaha, Mrs. Purnima Dwivedi, Miss. Richa Kundnani and Mrs. Sudha Gupta. After the distribution of the awards, Rev. Fr. Rolfie D'Souza congratulated first the parents whom he considered as the first Guru of the children. He said that parents and teachers are the true pathfinders for a child and they help both at home and school to groom and nurture a child's future. The Principal also said that the student of the college work in the true spirit of keeping the motto of the school in mind i.e. SEMPER SURSUM "Always Aim High". The chief guest Rev. Fr. Dr. Francis Xavier also expressed his heartfelt blessings and congratulations to all the prize winners and asked them to put in extra efforts to keep striving for a better result in life. A vote of thanks was proposed by the College Captain Yashasvi Raj who thanked the parents, the Principal, the Teachers, the support staff and above all Lord Almighty for bestowing his blessings on each one of us and also giving each child a chance to prove his worth.
