Teenage minds felicitated for academic excellence- SJC organizes Prize Day

Success is a tree that grows from the seed of a dream and which requires patience, perseverance and dedication. Keeping this in mind, St Joseph’s College, Prayagraj organised its Prize Day on 19th August,2023 in the College Auditorium. The programme commenced with the Chief Guest, Mr. M. S. Kazmi, being escorted by the Principal Rev. Fr. Thomas Kumar, the Additional Administrator Mr. Aubrey McGowan and the Staff Co-ordinator, Mr. Jyoti Dube, followed by a special prayer by Sheersh Moses.
The College Choir sang a soulful prayer song, seeking God’s blessings followed by the whole congregation singing the College Anthem.
It was now time for the Mistress of ceremony, Mrs. P. Simon to formally introduce the Chief Guest, Mr. M. S. Kazmi, who has a shared history of 40+ years with St. Joseph’s College as an excellent teacher.
Subsequent to the floral welcome of the Chief Guest, Mr. M. S. Kazmi by the College Principal Rev. Fr Thomas Kumar, it was the turn of the students from 6,7 and 8 to receive prizes for having secured first, second and third positions in their respective classes and for having 100% attendance, followed by a song by Lakshya Dwivedi and Allen Philip.
This mellifluous renditio gave way to the awarding of prizes to the rank holders of classes 9 and 11 in various streams of Computer, Commerce, Physical Education, Science and humanities. Subsequent to it, a dance performance was conducted by the junior section students.
The audience applauded loudest when the names of I.C.S.E and I.S.C toppers were announced . While Kavyam Srivastava and Priyanshu Mukherjee bagged the first position in Class 10th by securing 99.2%. The ISC toppers were Kanha Pandey who scored 97.25% from Humanities stream, Vedagya Shukla who scored 96.5% from Science stream and Kalash Kumar who scored 94.5% in Commerce stream.The enthusiastic applause continued for many other meritorious students being rewarded for having secured 100% marks in various subjects in I.C.S.E. as well as I.S.C. exams.
It takes courage and a rare degree of commitment to not miss a single day of school and children of all classes were given prizes for being regular on all days of school. So were the teachers who didn’t miss a single day of school. It takes a special dedication to the cause of excellence and discipline to be able to bag the Late Ducas Award. From classes 6 to 11, Mrs. Deepti Mishra, Mrs. Rekha Shukla, Mr. S. Chatterjee, Mr. Dilip Pascal bagged the prizes and from the supporting staff, Mrs. Angelina Bosco and Mrs. Saleem Lakra walked away with the awards.
In his address to the gathering, the Chief Guest , Mr. M. S. Kazmi congratulated all the prize winners and motivated all those who missed the prize by a whisker. He talked about the new emerging Artificial Intelligence who will soon replace the teachers. He concluded his speech by advising students to focus more on learning rather than go for rote memorization.
After the inspiring speech, the Chief Guest Mr. M. S. Kazmi was presented memento and gift by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Thomas Kumar as a token of love and appreciation
In his address to the gathering ,Principal Rev. Fr. Thomas Kumar began his speech by thanking the Almighty for the successful implementation of the event. He stated that the awards are the result of a Joint Venture by both students and parents. He lauded the presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. M. S. Kazmi by stating that though he may have left the College , the College is vibrantly alive in him. He concluded his speech by thanking the students for honouring their parents by bringing them to stage, as they were the ones who had got them admission to this wonderful school.
The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
