The final day of the CISCE UP Regional Swimming Championship 2025–26 at St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj, concluded with grandeur, celebration, and an inspiring display of talent, teamwork, and triumph.The event witnessed the participation of talented swimmers from various CISCE schools across Uttar Pradesh.
The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome extended to all dignitaries, educators, athletes, and mentors by MrsPriyansha Simon serving as the Mistress of Ceremony. The solemn occasion began with the Bible reading and prayer led by MrsAmrita Higgins, invoking divine blessings.
The event was graced by the esteemed presence of BrigadierNawab Ali Khan, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. An alumunus of the National Defence Academy,Brigadier Nawab Ali Khanwas commissioned into theRegiment of Artillery in 1995. He has served in high-risk operational areas, including Counter - Insurgency operations in Jammu & Kashmir and the Siachen Glacier, where he was awarded the Sena Medal. He also took part in the Kargil War(Operation Vijay) and later commanded an Artillery Brigade along the western front in Punjab.Currently, he holds the post of Deputy General Officer Commanding of the prestigious Red Eagle Division in Prayagraj. Apartfrom his military achievements, Brigadier Nawab Ali Khanis also a passionate long-distance runner and cyclist, having completed several marathons across the country.
To honour his presence, a sapling was presented by our Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’silva,symbolising growth and sustainability.
This was followed by a soulful Prayer Song by the College Choir, under the able guidance of MrSaubhagyaNayak, which uplifted the atmosphere with harmonious devotion.
The Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’silvaalso delivered the welcome address.In his speech, he expressed great joy in witnessing such a large gathering of enthusiastic participants and passionate supporters. He spoke about the journey of the young swimmers from the zonal level to the regional stage, applauding their dedication, perseverance, and commitment. “All of you are winners,” he said, “because reaching this level is itself a remarkable achievement.” He encouraged the athletes to enjoy the moment, take back cherished memories, and continue striving for excellence.He also extended his best wishes to those who qualified for the nationals, expressing confidence that they would make the region proud. He sincerely thanked the chief guest for sparing his valuable time, the coaches and managers for training and guiding the students, and the parents for fostering and encouraging their children’s talents.A special mention was made of all the organisers especially MrShabiRafiq, the event secretary and school sports coordinator, PTIs, and teachers whose teamwork and tireless efforts ensured the success of the event. The Principal, Rev. Fr. WalterD’Silva concluded his address by calling upon everyone to carry forward the same spirit of determination and excellence in all future endeavours.
