The year 1884 marked the genesis of an enduring legacy in the heart of Prayagraj, as the Capuchin Friars laid the cornerstone of St. Joseph’s College. Guided by the resolute motto ‘Semper Sursum’—Always Aim High—it stands today not only as an architectural marvel of the city but as a thriving community of nearly 7,000 scholars.Upholding this illustrious tradition, St. Joseph’s College organised Day One of the Post Centenary 141st Annual Athletic Meet and P.T. Display on the 21st of November, 2025. The event was a celebration of a sesquicentennial era defined by excellence, determination, and holistic development.

The proceedings of the first day commenced with the solemn and dignified arrival of the Chief Guest, Ms. Saumya Agarwal, I.A.S., Divisional Commissioner of Prayagraj, and the Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Allahabad, Most Rev. Dr. Louis Mascarenhas and other dignitaries namely: Rev. Fr. Reginald D’Souza, Vicar General of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Allahabad and St. Mary’s Convent School, Mirzapur, Rev. Fr. Vipin D’Souza, Director of Nazareth Hospital and Rev. Fr. Lawrence Fernandes ,The Manager of St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj. The dignitaries were received with warm cordiality by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, the College Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Melwin Pais, the Additional Administrator, Mr. A. McGowan, and the Staff Coordinator, Mr. Jyoti Dube.
