EARTH DAY CELEBRATION IN KG SECTION
The students of LKG and UKG celebrated Earth Day on 22nd April with great enthusiasm and awareness. A special assembly was conducted by Mrs. Sonia Morant, aiming to introduce young learners to the importance of our planet Earth.
The assembly began with a simple and engaging explanation of what Earth is. Students were made to understand that we all live on a big, beautiful ball called Earth, which is our home. The concept was explained in a child-friendly manner to help them connect with their surroundings.
The students were then shown examples highlighting the importance of protecting our environment. They were encouraged to avoid using plastic bags and instead use recyclable paper bags. The importance of planting more trees and caring for nature was also emphasized.
To make the learning more interactive, a fun activity was conducted where students enacted the life cycle of a tree. They first curled up like tiny seeds, then tapped their fingers to depict rainfall, raised their hands to show sunlight, and slowly stood up to represent a tree growing beautifully when all its needs are fulfilled. This activity helped them understand how plants grow and why they are important for our environment.
A short and meaningful story about “Earth and Earth Helpers” was narrated. Through this story, children learned that humans are the helpers of Earth and have the responsibility to protect it by planting trees, throwing garbage in dustbins, and saving water and electricity.
The students also participated in a creative sponge painting activity, where they colored the Earth and depicted different ways of saving our planet. This hands-on activity enhanced their understanding while encouraging creativity and environmental awareness.
The assembly concluded on a joyful note with a song:

The celebration was both educational and enjoyable, leaving the young minds inspired to take small steps towards protecting our planet.
