"A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." — John Maxwell The hallowed halls of St. Joseph's College, Prayagraj, bore witness to a significant milestone as the institution hosted its Investiture Ceremony for the 2026-27 academic session. This solemn occasion marked the formal induction of the newly elected student council, reinforcing the college's commitment to nurturing responsibility, integrity, and leadership. The event was gracefully anchored by the Mistress of Ceremonies, Mrs. Sumona Banerjee, whose eloquent conduct added charm and discipline to the programme. The ceremony commenced with a dignified General Welcome and the reception of the Chief Guest, Most Rev. Bishop Louis Mascarenhas. Following a prayerful start with a Bible reading by Mrs. Veronica Paul, the Chief Guest was formally introduced by Dr. Mrs. Sheetal Sebastian and accorded a traditional floral welcome by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D'Silva. The ceremony was attended by several esteemed dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Melwin Pais (Junior School Headmaster), Rev. Fr. Gladwin Fernandes (Middle School Administrator), Mr. Aubrey McGowan (Additional Administrator), Mr. Jyoti Dubey (College Coordinator), and Mrs. Aparna Ranjan (College Counselor). The atmosphere was further elevated by the melodious strains of the Prayer Song performed by the College Choir. The core of the event unfolded as the College Cabinet, House Office Bearers, Sports Cabinet, and Association Office Bearers were called to the stage. In a symbolic gesture of trust, badges were pinned by the Chief Guest, Most Rev. Bishop Louis Mascarenhas, the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D'Silva, the Junior School Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Melwin Pais, and the Middle School Administrator, Rev. Fr. Gladwin Fernandes. A pivotal moment occurred as the Oath of Office was administered by the Rev. Bishop, where student leaders pledged to serve their alma mater with loyalty, dedication, and discipline. Addressing the gathering, the newly elected College Captain, Anosh K. John, emphasized that leadership is centered on service and responsibility, praying for divine wisdom to guide the council. Chief Guest Most Rev. Bishop Louis Mascarenhas appreciated the improvement in students' discipline and highlighted that a positive attitude is an essential quality of a leader. Referring to Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, he encouraged the leaders to remain humble and dedicated. Finally, the Principal stressed that the badges and sashes symbolise commitment ratherthan mere decoration, urging students to balance leadership with academic excellence. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of a memento to the Chief Guest, the Principal's blessing, and a comprehensive Vote of Thanks delivered by the College Head Prefect, Shaurya Goswami. As the echoes of the National Anthem signaled the end of the event, the newly invested leaders stepped down from the stage, prepared to translate their pledges into action.
