5th August 2026, bore witness to a joyful birthday celebration in the Hogan Hall of St. Joseph's College Prayagraj, to honour the 75th birthday of its Manager, Rev.Fr. Lawrence Fernandes and the approaching birthday of Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Gyan Prakash. The programme was gracefully conducted by the Mistress of Ceremony, Ms. A. Amue Grace. The programme began with the Bible reading, a prayer and a melodious prayer song by the teachers of the KG Section.
Ms. R. Sircar, in her felicitation address, wished the very best for the devoted priest, great visionary and celebrated author, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Fernandes who is not just an astute Manager but also a wonderful human being known for his ready wit. Thereafter, the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D'Silva presented him with a bouquet.
The audience was left in splits as Rev. Fr. Lawrence reflected in his signature witty style, on his earthly journey of 75 years where he has contributed to the spiritual enrichment of his parishioners by penning fourteen books. He thanked all who had helped him through crises and exhorted everyone to help others in need too. Rev. Fr. Lawrence Fernandes also thanked Mrs. Sumona Banerjee, a Lecturer in English, for her editorial efforts in his book on Saint Carlo Acutis, titled A Teenager for Our Time. The first millennial Saint, also known as the Patron Saint of the Internet, Saint Carlo Acutis is revered for his exemplary though short life.
Floral buds were also presented to his relatives as tokens of love and appreciation.
Following this, the teachers of the Primary section presented a melodious medley of songs.
Introducing the new Headmaster, Rev.Fr. Gyan Prakash, Ms. A. Simon threw light on his leadership qualities like discipline, respect for all, integrity and wisdom and wished him the very best for his fast-approaching birthday. A bouquet was presented to the Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Gyan Prakash by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D'Silva. The Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Gyan Prakash addressed the gathering, expressing his heartfelt gratitude for the love, prayers, and birthday wishes extended to him.
The celebration reached its festive peak with the cake-cutting ceremony by both celebrants. A special song by Mr. A. Arora added warmth to the occasion. In his concluding remarks, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva drew attention to his long-standing acquaintance with Rev. Fr. Lawrence Fernandes, a tremendously dedicated and committed person, who leads by personal example of excellence in every sphere, while also wishing Rev. Fr. Gyan Prakash the very best for a wonderful year ahead.
The programme concluded with the Grace before the Fellowship meal and birthday greetings, leaving everyone inspired by the spirit of love, gratitude, and togetherness.
