A Grand Aquatic Commencement
The aquatic arena of St. Joseph's College, Prayagraj, buzzed with excitement on the morning of 7th August 2026, as host dignitaries, distinguished guests, visiting contingents, and eager student-athletes assembled for the grand Opening Ceremony of the CISCE UP Regional Swimming Championship 2026-2027. Organised under the auspices of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), this prestigious meet brings together the finest aquatic talent from across ten regional zones of Uttar Pradesh.
Embodying the official meet motto — STRIVE • SWIM • SUCCEED — the inaugural assembly set an inspiring tone for the championship.
Ceremonial Proceedings & Sacred Invocation
The ceremony was anchored with poise and elegance by the Mistress of Ceremonies, Mrs. Daisy Daniel who warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Melwin Wilson D'Souza, Principal of St. Joseph's School, Naini, the Guest of Honour, Dr .Ms. Zareen Rizvi, Zonal Coordinator, CISCE,the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, the Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Gyan Prakash and the College Coordinator Mr. Jyoti Dube . In accordance with Josephite tradition, the event commenced on a solemn spiritual note with a Bible Reading from Philippians 4:13 delivered by Mrs. Veronica Paul, followed by an inspiring Prayer Song performed by the College Choir.
Keynote Address & Opening Declaration
Mrs. Amrita T. Higgins then introduced the Chief Guest to the gathering, after which the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva presented him with a living sapling as a token of appreciation. In his speech, Fr. Melwin thanked our esteemed Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D' Silva, the Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Gyan Prakash and the College Coordinator, Mr. Jyoti Dube. He
commended the dedication of the coaches, welcomed the participating teams from all ten zones, and formally declared the championship open.
