On the 9th of August, 2026, St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj, successfully organised and hosted the grand Closing Ceremony of the CISCE UP Regional Swimming Championship 2026-2027. The momentous event celebrated not only the athletic prowess of the participants but also the spirit of sportsmanship that the championship fosters. The esteemed gathering was graced by a number of distinguished personalities. Sister Lissy C.J., Principal of St. Mary’s Convent Inter College, presided over the event as the Chief Guest, while Dr. Zareen Rizvi, Zonal Coordinator for the CISCE, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The gathering was further enriched by the esteemed presence of the Principal,Rev.Fr. Walter D'Silva and the School Coordinator, Mr. Jyoti Dube, whose continued support and guidance were paramount to the event's success.
Guided seamlessly by the Mistress of Ceremonies, Mrs. Joanna Robinson, the programme commenced with a warm, formal welcome. In keeping with the institution's reverent traditions, this was followed by a moment of spiritual reflection featuring a Bible reading and prayer led by Mrs. Jeevika Menezes, culminating in a melodious prayer song beautifully rendered by the College Choir. The formal proceedings continued with an eloquent introduction of the Chief Guest, presented collaboratively by Ms. Deanne Angela D'Souza and Ms. Priyanka Michael. In a traditional gesture of hospitality and ecological mindfulness, the Principal presented a sapling to the Chief Guest, alongside a vibrant bouquet presented to the Guest of Honour.
Following the felicitations, the Principal delivered a stirring Welcome Address, setting an appreciative and celebratory tone for the remainder of the evening. The Chief Guest, Sister Lissy C.J., then took to the podium to deliver an inspiring speech, after which a memento was presented to her by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D'Silva as a token of gratitude. The ceremony naturally progressed to the highly anticipated prize distribution, a joyous segment wherein the aquatic triumphs, discipline, and sheer determination of the young athletes were formally recognised and celebrated. The meticulously executed programme drew to a graceful close with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks proposed by Mrs. Daisy Daniel, before the gathering stood united in patriotic reverence for the rendition of the National Anthem.
