“Writing is the painting of the voice.” Inspired by this idea, our school organised the Vimla Devi Creative Writing Competition, an amazing and enriching literary event that encouraged the power of expression and imagination among students. The competition, sponsored by the esteemed Stellar Trust, took place on the 18th of April, 2026. The Event witnessed an enthusiastic participation of 160+ students spanning classes VI to XII. The Competition aimed at nurturing creativity and encouraging independent thinking among the students.
The Event commenced with all the participants being seated and briefed about the guidelines. The topic for the essay, “Mothers: The purest form of love” was disclosed by the chairperson of the Literary Association, Ms. A.J. D’Cruz, who ensured that the instructions were clearly communicated. The students were allotted one hour to write their essays.
As the writing session began, the atmosphere drifted into a more serene and calm one, with the competitors showcasing deep concentration in a creative space. The pens moved swiftly across the pages as the students delved into the topic and immersed themselves in thought. The silence of the room with the sound of a page turning or a pen-clicking reflected the imagination of each individual. The Competition beautifully exemplified the diversity of thoughts and the unique perspective each person offers.
The Event was conducted in a seamless, organised and disciplined manner under the supervision of the students-in-charge who assisted the participants whenever needed and ensured the smooth conduction of the Event. The initiative by the Stellar Trust emphasised the importance of promoting creative pursuits within the school’s environment.
Under the guidance of our respected Principal, Rev. Father Walter D’Silva, the Competition helped impart an opportunity to the students to take a step beyond conventional learning and hone their creative and writing skills.
With the competition paying tribute to our biggest cheerleader and supporter, our mothers, it helped the participants reflect and appreciate their mother’s care and love. The Event celebrated their undemanding presence in a literary way. With the constant assistance of the support staff, the students-in-charge, Ms. A.J. D’Cruz, and by the generosity of the Stellar Trust and the everlasting support of our respected Principal, the Event concluded successfully and proved to be a cathartic experience for all.
