The Red House conducted a special assembly on 29 August 2026 to celebrate National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. The occasion highlighted the values of discipline, determination, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship that define a true sportsperson.
The assembly area was beautifully decorated with sports-themed displays representing various sporting disciplines, creating a lively and energetic atmosphere. Adding to the spirit of the occasion, the Red House boys came dressed as sportspersons, bringing the theme to life and making the assembly vibrant and memorable.
The assembly began with an inspiring Bible verse from Isaiah 40:31, reminding everyone that faith gives us the strength to rise above challenges. The message was beautifully reinforced through the image of a red kite soaring high, symbolising how faith, discipline, and determination enable us to overcome obstacles and reach greater heights.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by Ishit Singh, followed by the prayer led by Akshit Jaiswal and the pledge led by Shourya Kesarwani. The choir then presented the soulful hymn “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace.” A special tribute was paid to Major Dhyan Chand, whose extraordinary contribution to Indian hockey continues to inspire generations.
Shourya Goswami and Raghav Mishra shared their thoughts on Major Dhyan Chand’s remarkable legacy and highlighted the valuable life lessons that sports teach us. The assembly also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Physical Education teachers, who tirelessly train, guide, motivate, and encourage students. Shivansh Gaur conveyed gratitude for their invaluable contribution to the students’ sporting journey.
The Thought for the Day, presented by Pratham Chaurasia, reminded everyone that success is not measured by winning alone. The courage to participate, persevere, learn from challenges, and continually improve is itself a victory.
As a token of gratitude, the Red House presented a handmade trophy and a handmade card to the respected Principal, Rev. Father Walter D’Silva.
The assembly concluded with a reminder that the true spirit of sportsmanship extends beyond the playing field and should become a part of everyday life.
The Red House National Sports Day Assembly was a vibrant and inspiring celebration of Major Dhyan Chand’s legacy, while reinforcing the enduring values of sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and excellence.
