What could serve as a more delectable icing on the cake than a well-contested face-off on the second and the final day of a mega cultural festival? The proceedings of Day-2 of Josephest 2024 commenced with Aditya Mishra welcoming the dignitaries, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, the Principal, Mr. A. McGowan, the Additional Administrator, Mr. J. Dube, the Senior Staff Coordinator, and Rev. Fr. Gladwin Fernandes, the Middle School Administrator, as they entered the College Auditorium. Recitation of the Lord’s prayer by Kevin Terry Velluthra, set a reflective tone for the events ahead.
The I.T Association presented a captivating documentary titled “Life at SJC”, offering an insightful glimpse into the memorable moments that define the journey at St. Joseph’s College. The documentary beautifully captured the spirit of SJC, from classroom learning to extracurricular activities, to lifelong friendships. Following this insightful portrayal, the curtain was raised for Day 2 of Josephest with yet another enthralling trailer, setting an exciting atmosphere for the upcoming events.
An interesting blend of humour, in genuity and marketing acumen as revealed in the first event of the day Sell It to Win It , proved to be a teaser to the cornucopia that lay in wait for the assembled gathering.
The Chief Guest for the Closing Ceremony, Col. Dhruv Raj Sirohi, was welcomed by Kevin Terry Velluthra as he was escorted by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, Additional Administrator, Mr. A. McGowan and the Senior Staff Coordinator, Mr. Jyoti Dube.
The Chief Guest for the second day, Col. Dhruv Raj Sirohi, is a distinguished Indian Army officer, commissioned in 2006. He is an alumnus of St Joseph's College, Allahabad (Batch of 2002), National Defence Academy, Pune, and Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. With expertise in Defence Strategy and Management from Madras University, Col. Sirohi has led numerous operations, including 'Operation Meghdoot' at Siachen Glacier and 'Operation Rakshak' along the Line of Control. He played a key role in managing the "Galwan Incident" against Chinaand and has been decorated twice with General Officer Commanding-in-Chief commendation for his bravery and leadership. Currently, Col. Sirohi commands the 16 RAJPUT infantry battalion at Lucknow. Following the conclusion of all the events, the prizes were handed out to all the winning teams by the dignitaries.
In his address to the gathering, the Chief Guest, Col. Dhruv Raj Sirohi, appreciated all the schools for their tremendous hard work. Reminiscing about his school days, Col. Sirohi urged everyone to always be ready to learn from their mistakes so that success is a given. Col. Sirohi also talked about his journey from St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj to qualifying the NDA, thanking his mentors for teaching him to have the courage to make the right choices. Finally, he advised the students to make not just plans but also have the will and foresightedness to execute them.
After the Chief Guest’s speech, the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, congratulated all the teachers, the mentors, and all the participants for their incredible hard work. He talked about how he genuinely enjoyed the event, overjoyed to see everyone coming together to put up such amazing performances. He appreciated all the management, the participating teams and the teachers and advised everyone to always remember that it is not about winning or losing but rather about building human connections.
At the end, Mohd. Sultan delivered the Vote of Thanks, thanking the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva for his relentless support. He thanked all the teams, the various committees and all the teachers for their incredible efforts and cooperation for the past two days. The NCC cadets and the College Band were also given special thanks for their dedication in insuring the smooth management of the event.
Sell It to Win It
A hilarious yet captivating event, Sell It to Win It, is based on the participants coming up with the whackiest scripts in just one day to display their acute salesmanship and business skills. The topic given to the participating teams
