The Investiture Ceremony at St. Joseph’s College, held on 7th May 2025 in the College Auditorium, marked the formal appointment of new student leaders. This special event symbolizes the beginning of their journey to lead with confidence, integrity, and compassion.
Mrs. Madhulika D’Souza, the Mistress of Ceremonies, welcomed the Chief Guest, Most Rev. Bishop Louis Mascarenhas, along with the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Melwin Pais, Additional administrator Mr. A. McGowan, Middle School coordinator, Rev.Fr.Gladwin Fernandes, Senior Staff Coordinator, Mr. J.Dube and School Counsellor Mrs.A.Ranjan. The ceremony began with a prayer and the lighting of the lamp, followed by the presentation of badges and sashes to the new leaders.
The programme began with a Bible reading and a special prayer by Mrs. S. Lyall, the students of the middle school delivered a captivating dance which was performed with graceful movements. This was followed by the formal felicitation of the chief guest Most Rev. Bishop Louis Mascarenhas, by the Principal Rev. Father Walter D’Silva, honouring his presence.
A melodious welcome song rendered by the college choir was followed by the College Anthem.
The College Cabinet was introduced and called on stage thereafter the Chief Guest, Most Rev Bishop Louis Mascarenhas, Principal Rev. Father Walter D’silva, Junior School Headmaster, Rev. Father Melvin Pais and Middle School Administor, Rev. Father Gladwin Fernandes were invited for pinning of the badges and sashes.
The House office bearers were called on stage, the House Moderators were invited for pinning of the badges and the sashes, this was followed by the introduction and the calling of the Sports Cabinet on stage, The Sports Coordinator, Mr.Mohd Shabi along with the other sports teachers were invited for pinning the badges and sashes.
After that, the various association office bearers were introduced and called on stage for pinning of the badges by the Association In-charges.
The Principal administered the oath, and the Chief Guest inspired the students to lead by example and serve their community.

The Chief Guest, Bishop Most Rev.Dr.Louis Mascarenhas then addressed the gathering with a motivating speech, emphasising leadership, integrity and service. He told a true leader is a role model- someone who's words are reflected in the actions. Leadership is not about personal gain, but about uplifting others. It is a responsibility and a privilege, given not for self-promotion, but to empower and guide a community towards shared success. He focused on the core value of the college— “Love your neighbour as you love yourself” and
said such love and respect at the individual level sows the seeds of harmony, ultimately nurturing peace across the entire nation.
The newly appointed College Captain of the academic session 2025-26, Arishh Abraaham Aalam, then delivered a confident and inspiring speech, expressing gratitude and outlining his vision for the year ahead.
This was followed by the words of encouragement and blessings by the Principal, Rev.Fr.Walter D'Silva who praised the students and urged them to lead by example.
The ceremony conclude with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by the College Head Prefect,Om Tiwari, and the rendition of the National Anthem, bringing the memorable occasion to a dignified close.
